Buying 2001 Insight tomorrow - $12k for 14k miles???

I can't find a new manual anywhere in CA, but a dealer within driving distance has one for a bit under $12k asking and 14,000 miles.

5 speed, air conditioning, 2001, red

Is that a good price?

I am about to have a friend take me there tomorrow morning!

Please let me know what you guys think:

Thank you!!

Hi Figgy:

___If the Carfax is clean and it is in truly excellent condition (it should be with just 14K miles), offer them $11K and drive it home ;) It sounds like a decent deal to me?

___I have KBB, Edmunds, and BlackBook numbers for a 2001 5-speed w/ 20,000 miles over a 3 month period but I don’t have them for an 01 Insight with just 14,000 miles and updated for February. You can find these three used car price ranges at KBB.com, Edmunds.com, and/or head on over to Cars.com, pick out any Honda Insight with a distance from your zip code of any, click on the BlackBook link, and insert the Insight in questions actual mileage. After looking there just now myself, they aren’t giving the 01 Insight away at $12K so I would definitely negotiate with these numbers in your hands before making an outright purchase offer is all …

Very happy

It turns out it was in exceptional condition, great fun as expected, and it's now parked next to its pal the Element.

Thank you for your references.
Welcome aboard.

My 2001

I bought my 2001 Insight CVT with 24,000 miles on December 20, 2003 for $10,895. That's a fair benchmark. Paying a grand more sounds fair to me...

Then again, you've already bought the car, not like you're going to change your opinion :) My bank's value for "underwater" for the vehicle is currently $12,600 for less than 20,000 miles -- they won't loan more than that on the car. An insurance payout will also be right around the same range.
Welcome to the forum fellow Insight/Element owner!

Hi All:

___A bit more information … Just tonight I spoke with the former owner of my Insight in SD. He said the dealer offered him $9,000 for it and that is what he decided was a fair offer. There was a trade for a Honda Element and a Civic EX involved so the numbers aren’t easily figured but for a Honda dealership to offer $9,000 on a Pristine condition 2000 Insight w/ 28K on the odometer was a bit of a surprise. I figured they would offer more along the lines of $6 or $7K myself. After they performed the Honda certification and installed new RE92’s, they didn’t make much (I paid $10K) but it was a quick turnover (< 10 days) for them …
