I was wondering if anyone has calculated an average mileage when battery pack failure occurs. Ideally there would be two seperate averages for CVT and Standard Insights since the transmission choice seems to be a significant factor in the life of the battery pack. We could also take into account the average temperature of the area in which you drive your particular Insight, though that would probably be overkill.

I'm just wondering if anyone has a rough, conservative average for when the battery pack will fail because my 100k warranty on my '03 is almost up and I am considering my options.

Batt Pak Failure

It would be difficult to determine expected battery pack life. Some die early, some much later, a few right out of the box  and many old ones are still hanging in there. I do know of a case where an Insight owner had his battery pack fail at about 120K miles. Honda replaced it for free, only criteria was he had to be the original owner, then Honda would do a good will replacement. If I remember correctly it also included the BCM and MCM, it was a '00. Hope this helps, Jack
