Greetings all central & northern Californians! We are having a gathering at exactly 12:00 noon on Sunday, August 17th! It will be in Oakland or Alameda (near the bay where it's not so hot) at a Home Depot or Wal-Mart parking lot, and an adjacent restaurant. I am bringing my slightly modified (for car shows) 2003 5-spd (85.7 lmp) all the way from the state of WA. We will figure and exact location soon; any suggestions? I would like to meet many of you, including Rodney. Everyone is welcome, and even the famous Insight expert Daniel Curran may show up. I sure wish Rick Reece didn't live so far away..........Billy

OK....Location has been chosen. After considering several sites, the Wal-Mart parking lot in San Leandro is the winner!! (1919 Davis St) It is just off the 880 freeway, just south of Oakland Airport, and only a few blocks from the Bay, so I am told it is relatively cool on hot days. Also there are 3 restaurants adjacent, so we can all go & eat while we swap stories, etc. Think about bringing a small folding chair so we can "tailgate" for a while as we look over the cars. Anyone in SoCal willing to drive north and join us? Be there or be square. Later, Billy.....

Sounds like quite a gathering. Is it worth contacting the 'local' newspaper for them to take a few pictures for an article?

yes.....I'm hoping to have someone from the Oakland, CA newspaper take some photos for a possible feature story. Many people are interested in learning more about the Insight; most of them have only seen one on the freeway, but never up close. Billy....
We hope to see ALL of you central & northern CA folks this Sun @ Noon. It will be great to see your vehicles, take some group photos, and meet lots of nice people! I have contacted the Oakland Tribune, SF Chronicle, and the San Jose Mercury News to see if they want to maybe do a write-up story. Hoping James from Reno, Braxus, Dazey, etc. can attend....Billy....

Agreed. I am considering getting "NO HMMRS", "NO HUMMR", or some other derivative license plates. Also, "10K WATT" also seems kinda neat. However, this being California and with the huge number of people here, all the really cool license plates are taken.Sharon Venzke said:
