sounds like a bad bearing in either the water pump or the ac compressor, cant remember if there's an idler pulley on these but if there is that's also a possibility.
yep.

in my experience It's most likely the idler pulley.

#2 most likely would be AC compressor

It's probably not the water pump because they seem to be extremely reliable.

Take the belt off and just give them all a spin

I'll buy an idler pully and then take the belt off.
It is OK to drive this for a few days? Also... the sound comes and goes or maybe louder and quieter anyway.

I bought a Dorman idler pulley one time, and it seemed pretty chinsy, plastic. I opted to send it back then buy just the bearing and press it into the OEM pulley. It was very easy to do, a lot cheaper, and I ended up with something better in the end. Seems like the go-to fix for this would be to buy replacement bearing only, rather than the whole pulley.

Here's a link to the bearings I bought on amazon, some years ago, $12 for two of them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HH3BP4H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
