If you live near the US , please get quotes or check the internet before buying part for your insight from honda canada.
I recently purchased a set of plugs at $56.00cnd EACH. I replaced them at the 168, 00 mile point and have recently replaced them again attempting to solve a cat deteriation problem.
I can buy these at a US hoda dealer 1 hour away for $25.00US ($35.00cnd)
or online at a dealership in delaware of $14.00US ( $19.00cnd)
My dealership says that that is the price honda canada charges and that the ones in the us must be different.
Genuine honda parts.

I would highly doubt that. Wow, 168,000. Welcome to the group. I think you beat the rest of the high mile people by a good 50,000 anyways. What other problems have you had?

parts and problems

Hi, actually up to 300, 000 kms ( close to 190, 000miles)next week. Commute 100km each way.
Right now we have 2 major issues outside of the parts pricing.
1) engine code for cat deteriation . Honda tech in japan has our 1st cat converter. The took it out and shipped it off for investigation good will warranty. We have had no feedback. The codes started again
aprox 30 -40 ,000 km later. No possible solution. Check engine light still on . Cat converter is $1600.00cnd+. I am not about to buy one with out a solution to have the codes come back a few months later.
2) hatch struts (supports). Replaced them last summer after failing ( 2000 model). The replacements lasted one day. Dealer screwed up and did not reorder and due to delays took a month or so to get replacements. The replacement set lasted 4 months. I had the parts dept order new ones as they said a 1 year warranty. This set lasted 4 days. Honda canada now says no, there is no warranty on the replacement set andthe dealer should not have put in the last set n/c. The dealer says he had to pay for the last set and will not do any thing more for us. Basically they are saying go away. I have spoken to the parts dept at the dealership and he spoke to Honda canada parts and no one else has ordered this part.
The fact that this may be a completely defective batch of struts means nothing to honda and they will do nothing for us.
I am now out searching for aftermarket supports.

Oh yah, # 3 I just had a new battery put in. I went to the dealer , beacuse I wanted to get that really cute little lawn mower battery that came with it.
Gee guess what. Honda canada says no, you cannot get that battery and they just put in a regular civic battery.( without asking or telling me this )

We have been very happy with the performance, but now as the miles get high, we have a dealer and Honda canada that wants us to go away.
I have more to say but that enough venting.

Hey I can relate to you somewhat I find the dealers here ; that you basically have to prove to them that there is something wrong with you car.

Also coupled wit the fact that since this isn't a popular car ; that you basically have to educate the dealers as to what has to be done
