so i bought an insight used from a dealer and took a significant road trip with it back home immediately from the dealer. I was really looking forward to playing some cds in the cd changer. First thing i did when i stopped at the first gas station was take out the brand new cd cartridge, load up each tray, and pop the cartridge in the changer back in the trunk.

After filling with gas and getting back into the drivers seat, I hit the "cd/tape" button. absolutely nothing happened. the radio is on, playing i'm getting volume and when i pop a tape in it plays. when i hit the cd/tape button nothing happens. so i walk back to the back of the car again and try to eject the magazine. it's stuck. the green eject button does nothing.

so now my 6 favorite cds are stuck in the changer. I took it back to the dealer and he was baffled. I took the car to a honda service garage today and the service man was clueless.

any help with this annoying issue would be appreciated!

It may be helpful to note: I realized after digging through th edirections for the cd player that i had put the cds in the magazine upside down (as I do with my home 6 disc changer) Surely that couldn't have locked the cartridge.... could it have? where's the emergency eject? there must be some lock in place, or the unit isn't getting power maybe? is the eject motorized on the changers as it is most home components?

Placing the CD's in upside down wouldn't cause the lock up. Mine locked up on me once because the CD was stuck out of the tray and the eject button didn't remove the cartridge. That also may be your problem. You may have to remove the changer from the car and take a look inside it. I had to carefully use an opened paperclip to guide the CD's tray back into the cartridge.

cool thanks for the tip. i haven't quite figured out _how_ to remove the changer... its been so cold outside i haven't been able to dink with it much... i am pretty annoyed the changer is in the only place of the car where i can't reach from the driver seat.. i mean.. was that a bad joke or something?? i'm 6' 3" and can reach every inch of the car from teh drivers seat except the cd changer. :?

You may also want to make sure that the cable that runs from the CD Changer to the radio is plugged in on BOTH ends and not cut somewhere in between.

I believe this cable supplies power to the changer as well as everything else. If it was just a case of the CD being flipped it seems like it would try to work and then give you an error.

You can download the installation instrcutions from one of the online accessory suppliers that will show how the cable is supposed to be routed.

Good luck!
