I have a 2000 Insight and want to add a CD player to the car (why on earth this car does not have one is beyond me), but I want a factory player, not the CD Changer. I see that the 2004 models have the CD player. Does anyone know if the 2004 cd player will fit into a 2000 model? In addition, is the CD player/radio available to purchase?

The 04 one should drop in. I don't know for 100% sure, but I see no reason why it would not. The "new" cd player is the same CD player that came in the 00-03 S2000, but they put a slightly different face on the Insight one to match the new interior. Sitting down for this next part? The list price for a new deck for an Insight is over $600! This is for the old style tape deck.

Here's what my suggestion would be. Find a S2000 CD player on ebay and buy it if you want a factory stereo. Actually the dark grey will probably match the old interior better. A take out shouldn't run your too much. There are a lot of people who put aftermarket stereos in their S's.

Well depending upon how much time and effort you want to put in to find the parts online, you can save quite a bundle. I picked up a used Honda 6 CD changer on Ebay two years ago for around $150. I ordered the mounting kit from one of the online Honda dealers for around $100 and did the installation myself. I also picked up an extra 6 disc magazine for about $18. Only problem I ever had was cutting the player cable earlier this year when I installed rear speakers. Cost me an additional $60 for a new cable.

Also, 00-03 Insight radio's appear occasionally on Ebay. I picked up a relatively new one for $18, as a spare, about two years ago. The seller told me that he had removed the radio as soon as he got the car. It looked it. No dust, scratches or any kind of wear on the faceplate. When I saw the bid price I figured it was cheap enough to keep around in the event the radio was stolen or broke. Of course, now I have an extended warranty and breakage is covered for the next 5 years.
