I have a cheap ($40) OBDII reader tool. When I hook it up to see what the check engine light is trying to tell me I just get an error message. Is this normal? Are there "proprietary" Honda codes that a generic code reader won't read?
I've heard that Honda has some propietary codes. All the codes are in the service manual. But there is another way to read the codes. Search for "blinking lights" or look here:
that's either:
P1600 or P1601, (IMA System Malfunction)
P1644 or P1645, (MOTFSA or MOTFSB Motor Control Module Signal Malfunction)
Sorry it's not more specific :? . There are a few voltage and continuity tests in the SM to diagnose P1644 & 45. They're quite lengthy. Can you get a SM?
