Check out this new listing on Ebay 06/20/2017 for $3,800 or Best Offer. 4 Owners, 147k, miles, VIN #1162 in Portland,Oregon. Below is partial description;
'I did not purchase this car for commuting. I mainly wanted it to make coastal and mountain trips on the west coast very economically. Since my needs were to pack a folding bicycle (sale price includes a $700 Allen folding bicycle since I will not be using it anymore) and inflatable kayak and sleep in it on occasion, I had to remove the battery system to accomplish this. Due to the battery taking up all the trunk space and prevented reclining the seats it had to go for my purposes. This does not effect the running the car but you do lose some horse power as the electric motor is an assist to the small 1 liter motor but it has not been an issue for me. It is not practical to replace the batteries as they are $2500 for the set making it non-economical. Most Insights are running with end of life batteries as very few replace them based on the cost. Removing the battery does set off a check engine life. It will pass the smog/sniff test great except it may fail based on the CEL so if you live in a smog test area this may be an issue.'
Is this add from an Insight Forum member? Just wondering. 19 watching on Ebay as of now

Stay very far way from this car. It's structural integrity has been compromised. Who knows what he removed along with the battery, but it at least includes the Tom Mix bar. If it is ever t-boned it will fold up like a taco. If this happens with a passenger he (or his survivors) will sue you and win. Your insurance company will not cover you.

I'm 100% with Sam on this one. This car is literally a twisted metal death trap. You would probably die even if you got hit by another insight.

I would say you could get this nice-looking citrus then go to a junkyard and strip the back from a front-ender... but looking at the conversion quality, they probably cut or damaged a bunch of stuff doing this.

That carpet wrapped around the fuel filler tube tho...

I like it! But I do realize your point about "folding like a taco". (But I've owned cars that were much less safer. I.e. '70 Cutlass Convertible with floor boards rusted, so when car went over bumps, the floor would rub on the driveshaft for a couple of bounces.)
This is a nice citrus car with sunroof...which I would love to get at some point.
He did a nice job outfitting the trunk with carpet too.
Couldn't this be retrofitted with whatever was removed?
Ps: and I like the little folding bike too! Lol

Just search for Honda Insight on Ebay main page. I don't know how to send the eBay link. Sorry

I did eventually find it. I searched, initially, for Honda Insight, Honda Insight Gen 1, Insight Green and was having no luck. Finally figured out that if you search specifically in Ebay motors it will pop up. Who knew?? I'm getting too old for this computer stuff.....
