Anyone know what a 1420 code is about? Thanks very much!

I think if you search the forum you'll find plenty on this subject. Code P1420 is "Catalyst System Efficiency below threshold", for 2002-2003 M/T models. Merry Christmas.

Oh, yeah... they're similar.

Actually, P1420 is "NOx Adsorptive Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold" for 2002-2003 M/T models.

P0420 (MIL 67) is just "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold", apparently for all models and years.

I don't know the difference. :?:
Some Insights have a "NOx adsorptive" catalytic converter and some just have a regular catalytic converter... :?:

Thanks very much

Yeah it is a 2002 M/T with 100K...code is 1420..checked it twice..I searched that with no results..I will probably just ignore this persistent code...Running fine,no other symptoms....fuel use unaffected..55mpg in snow....

Thanks again for your help,InsightCental is something I am VERY thankful for!

This is the most helpful place I have ever seen!

And now I understand that the second LAF sensor may be tripping the 1420 code....so that sensor may be the culprit...in any case,I am inclined to keep driving it as is until performance or driveabilty degrades.

But I do always search first...Best.....east
