Any ideas as to what
could be wrong?

Engine Light on, OBD code is P1164 (aka P0164)

This is an '01, stick shift, with 49k miles

Since about 33k miles last March, I've had
4 occurences of
OBD code P1164
which means something like "invalid o2 sensor reading"

The Dealer hand-waved this at one or 2 visits,
after checking various things
( it first occurred as I drove off after an oil change )

They replaced the ECM a month or 6 weeks ago,
AND . . .
Tomorrow I take it in to Dealer for latest occurence ...

My "bumper-to-bumper" warranty expired at 48k.

Since this has been an ongoing problem for you since 33K miles while under warranty, I would expect Honda to continue to attempt to fix the problem at no cost to you. I would certainly push the issue.

Thanks for replies & esp. pointers to other pages.

Given that it's at 49k miles and out of warranty . . .
I'm inclined to not go thru more dealer visits & risk expensive repairs they won't pay for,
instead:
- purchase & install $200 LAF sensor at one of these websites
- go to an engine-cleaning guy - something like BK44 or JiffyLube's servce - to
have cat converter cleaned/flushed

IIRC some of the emissions components are warrantied 8/80K. Its in the emmissions warranty booklet that came with the car. A bit of homework may save you the expense of a warrantiable repair.

Your local dealer or Honda customer relations can tell you if a particular repair is covered under the emmissions warranty.

HTH! :)
