I currently pay 13.95¢/kWh for my electricity. So could any of you good people tell me how much per hour it cost to grid charge my insight? Thank-you Jim
.35A*178V/1000 * 1 hr = 0.0623 kWh for the pack
2A * 12V/1000 * 1 hr = .024 kWh for the fan
.0863Wh * 13.95/100 = $0.01203885/hr
This does not take into account efficiency losses from transforming AC to DC losses. It's probably in the 80-90% efficient range, so let's just be conservative and say 50% efficient...
I guess you can look into a solar grid tie inverter setup to offset the usage of a grid charger? Do to the low power consumption its possible to power one from a deep cycle battery and inverter if you live in a place where you can not plug in a grid charger.
