S Keith, what makes you think a Lithium is installed? I see the seller indicates that but it seems that Honda wouldn't have a drop-in lithium available.

A CVT is a transmission... it automatically changes gear ratios.

An automatic transmission is not necessarily a CVT, but a CVT is an automatic transmission.

This is all very confusing. The CVT in my Insight is the smoothest-shifting automatic transmission I've ever had. It automatically shifts the gear ratios so smoothly I can't even tell when it's happening if I'm not watching the tach.

That's the point. It doesn't "shift". It's Constantly Variable. It can run any ratio it wants to, not fixed gears like any other "automatic transmission". That's why you don't feel it.

I intended to stay out of this, but I couldn't help myself. There is a lot of lack of understanding going on.

Oh, I fully understand how manual, dual-clutch, hydraulically-coupled automatic, and the many forms of CV automatic transmissions work. I even know how the Volkswagen autostick - which was a manual transmission with a clutch and a torque converter! - works.

I was just being a bit snarky rebuffing the ideas that a CVT can't "shift smoothly" and isn't "automatic".
