So I'm reviewing my service manual because I'm about ready to replace the CVT fluid on my 2001 Insight and didn't see that the CVT uses a trans filter. Is this true?

Its true as written. (you didn't see it)

And its also true that all Honda AT's to date and CVT's don't have a filter that requires service.

Okay no filter that needs changing, but they do have trans filters?

In non CVT AT's there is a debris screen that's basically there for any leftovers from the machining process when new. Requires near complete AT disassembly for access.

Not sure of the CVT specifics but something similar.

Well at least the fluid change should go smooth without a filter to replace.
