TRANSMISSION!!!
It sounds like it is a transmission pressure problem. In a standard auto transmission, check the fluid level first.
Next,smell it to see if it smells "burned". If it does, REBUILD!
If not, change fluid/filter. If it's still a problem, REBUILD!
I'm not familiar with CVT.
At any rate, I would be back at the dealer that put the wrong fluid in it since you reported a surging problem shortly after buying it.
The surging may be the reason they changed the transmission fluid in a car they knew nothing about.
