Can't read sideways.

Check all 3 ground straps. If they haven't been replaced, they are likely due:

Then the issue is not associated with your IMA battery performance or condition.

You have two cars. Swap parts.

I changed parts and replace one ground strap and it still won't charge 12 v battery

I changed the MCM from my other car and also swapped out the PCU (power control unit which i believe includes the MDM-motor drive module, Heat sink, and the DC-DC converter). It still has the problem. I remember reading on here that the problem could be that the IMA battery may be the problem.

Here a little video of the sheet I have been following.
I am also trying to locate the way that I may safely remove two wires so I may bypass the DC-DC converter and MCM so the car will charge the 12 battery.
Thank you thank you Thank you thank youThank you thank youThank you thank you!

Again, if you don't have an IMA battery error, the IMA battery is not the cause of your 12V charging issue.

Ground straps?

Ground straps?
I appreciate the help, Im looking up ground straps now and will put them on tonight. Although the last problem I had was the Battery icon being on.

All troubleshooting with the Insight starts with:

1) confirm 12V battery is good with a load test.
2) confirm 3X of the 4 grounds are good.

I recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
1: Disconnect the two huge leads on top of the IMA battery (that go from the PDU to the IMA junction board)(10 mm bolts).

2: Disconnect the DCDC's high voltage leads that connect to the junction board (left side of IMA battery).

3: Connect the DCDC HV leads (item 2, above) to the IMA DCDC leads (item 1, above). You can use bolts and nuts for this test.

4: Wrap these exposed leads in electric tape or whatever to make sure the high voltage doesn't short to anything.

5: Disconnect all four wire connectors from the front of the MCM computer.

For more information on what exactly needs to hook up where, watch this video:
Note: You don't need the circuit board shown in that video... it's just there to keep the CEL off.

At this point the IMA system is completely removed from the picture. However, the DCDC should still work when the vehicle is between ~1500-4000 rpm (this is an off-the-top-of-my-head estimate).

6: Hold key in start for 5 seconds, until the backup starter kicks in.
7: Rev engine to ~2500rpm.

Is the 12 volt battery light still on?
Note: the brake light will always turn on when that battery light comes on; ignore the brake light when the battery light is on.

12v battery wont stay charged or still won't charge

I installed brand new ground straps, reconditioned the IMA battery with a "Hybrid Automotive" charger and discharger. Swapped out the Power control module which includes the MDM heat sink and DC-DC converter and still the little battery icon is on and it doesn't charge, also tried to cut or remove the PIN 2 and 6 of the dc-dc converter as to bypass the mcm and ecu so that the 12v battery should be always charging but no change, Ive also tried usiong two good 12v batteries to test swapped out the MCM and nothing.
I think according to the Mitchell on PRO DEMAND website says its the dc-dc converter. I will swap out the DC-DC for the final test before I quit for a while.

I assume the dc-dc input fuse has been checked?
Fuses can rarely have weird intermittent faults.
Swap it for a known good spare if you have one.

You state the little 12v light is on and it does charge?
How have you confirmed that?

After doing everything I could to do many tests I reasoned to the possilbility of it being the "DC-DC Converter fuse" after having used two different Converters and reading that they rarely go out I swapped the fuses after doing a continuity test and one had ~43Mega ohms and the other had .3ohms.
IT WAS THE DC-DC CONVERTER FUSE. Praise the Lord and all of you!

Ground straps. They seem a weak link. Without them the circuit is open. And this car seems to be a computer on wheels. So with any electrical problem, other than burned out bulbs or the like, checking the ground straps is a must. And as for myself, I will check them at every oil change, just eyeball them. And if I ever get my hands on a G1 I will replace the ground straps straight away. Then I will know how old they are. It just seems good practices to me.

Cheers

On the battery contractor board.
Thanks! I ended up finding the fuse and to my surprise I know it’s the reason I have this issue with the 12v battery. But luckily for me the fuse is $8. So I’m hoping it solves my issue because I brought the car from an auction in nyc and it’s in perfect condition with only 101,000 miles. I brought the car to sell because I’m into flipping cars. I usually purchase bmws because ppl tend to buy those cars even when they don’t work.

I think the fuse blew because I was trying to put the back seats down when I brought a futon from Walmart and I ended up flipping the switch to disable the battery not knowing it was a battery rushing to get home to my wife. Immediately I saw the ima battery symbol without knowing what it was because I thought I brought a regular Honda Civic. Biggest mistake I made.
