Hello all.

My lovely lady is the owner of a 2013 Insight. It started making a very loud thumping that is wheel speed dependent and Im trying to figure out what it is.

Most the front end has been replaced in the quest and I decided to pull a CV axle to check it. During which, I dumped a good bit of fluid out the diff..i think.

I can't find anything about gear oil for this thing though only oil and CVT transmission fluid. Which is my question

Is there gear oil? or just transmission fluid that also lubricates the diff?

I'm a truck guy/offroader mainly, haven't worked on a car since having a supra 10 years ago but this is a different animal even compared to that.

Any help appreciated thanks!

Yes, what spilled out is CVT fluid. Use only actual Honda fluid. Change often, use a fresh crush washer and torque to 36lbs.

Change your CVT fluid AND FILTERS now. The fluid should be changed every other oil change (15K miles).
