2000 insight with 55K miles startes to do rapid charge and discharge cycles with recal every hour or so. Finnally, check engine light and IMA light on dash lights up and IMA stopps working, no charge, discharge or assist.
Take it to dealer and it comes up DTC code 78. ?Code of death for IMA battery? Dealer claims its the BCM and MCM and plans to relace both. I think its the IMA battery.
Tech help please. Am I having the wool pulled over my eyes. Car is still under warrentee-- Honda <does not> Care
Thanks

Just an update. Honda dealer in Carson City, NV (no names here) replaced the BCN and MCM but not the battery pack as I adviced. When I got the car back today I asked if the care was fixed and if it had been test driven. Yes was the reply. The dealer then tried to charge me $2000+ for the repairs until I tactfully told him it was under warantee. Oh.
I checked the milage against my notes when it was driven in -- no change, Hmm, test drive. Within .5 miles it had blown the codes again. Back at the dealer I asked about the test drive with no milage change, why his repair did not work, did Honda like being charged for work not needed and if he was going to reapir it. He had the gard escort me to the door.
It is now at another dearler. We will see.

troubles

DEFINATELY contact USA Honda in Torrance,Ca.

They would probably be real interested in the dealers actions.

There is a 800 number available.

Keep copious records, date, person contacted, statements, etc.

Good luck........Willie

Anytime I have a "bad deal" from a dealer, I would post their name and location to keep others from geting "burned".

Well I don't know how the car business is conducted in Carson City, but _ANY_ dealership that had a guard would be enough to _permanently_ prevent me from setting foot on the premesis to begin with.

Quote them the _Official_ Honda Service Bulletin.

Should the "other" dealer have treated you exactly as you say I'd write a letter to Honda corporate. Such conduct is despicable :!:

Car is now fixed and works better than it has in months.
I took the car to Bill Pearce Honda in Reno. Many thanks to Larry Knutson and others in the serrvice department. Fault codes were 1600 and 1449. The teck asked why the battery pack had not been replaced at Hohl Honda in Carson City. Good question.
They replaced the battery pack under Honda Care at no charge. They even test drove it -- yes I checked the milage.
The above will generate a good letter to Honda about Pearce Honda in Reno and a flame about Hohl in Carson City. Coppies will be sent to BBB and Nevada Dept of transportation.
Thanks for the help on the forum
