hi guys, i'm new to this amazing form, which i'm real excited about since they just stopped production of our amazing cars.

I've been having this unfortunate problem of my engine hesitating as of late. I lose rpms when i get up about 65+ mph on my 2001. It is totally erratic and seems to happen more when i push my engine a little harder in acceleration. I'll just have my foot on the pedal completely steady and suddenly my car will jerk a little back and then forward...which is quite disturbing and bothersome when you going at these speeds ya know, in such a tiny vehicle.

Now I have taken my car to the my honda dealership TWICE and they come back and tell me that nothing is wrong with the car...yeah right! They won't drive the car for longer than 3 miles, and it takes sometimes 10 miles to kick in and start happening. Sometimes i drive and it doesn't happen and sometimes it happens over and over. The dealership told me they would replace the exaust or something, but that was a guess for 300 bucks i'm not willing to spend unless they really know.

Has anyone had or heard of similiar problems like this???

engine hesitation

I have had an engine hesitation problem. My car is an '06 and has less than 7K miles on it. I've had hesitation problems, actually it's more like a intense jerk. Almost like I kept my foot on the gas and stoped the clutch fast once or twice. It seems to happen only when the car is coming out or entering lean burn mode. Very frustrating, the dealer doesen't seem concerned.

EGR valve?

Many people in this forum, including me, have found that replacing (or cleaning, if you're up for it) the EGR valve can solve the hesitation problem. I have an '01 and brought it in to the local dealer armed with knowledge from this forum. They agreed that the problem was the EGR valve, replaced it (it was around $300 for the part and labor), and the car is much better now!

Search the forum for "EGR valve" and "hesitation" and if it seems like the symptoms match yours, you might check the EGR valve.

cleaning EGR

I remember reading that some folks here had tried cleaning it, but I don't remember details, and didn't do it myself. If you find the relevant threads, you should be able to find the instructions. Sorry!

Hesitating engine

Hi from central Alberta Canada. I have a 2006 which was giving me the same problem. The problem seemed to go away when Honda did an emissions recall service on the car. The recall was for a computer defect with regards to the MIL coming on because internal timers in the computer were not synchronized. The recall affected vehicles of the 2006 variety with vin JHMZE1***6S800001 UP TO 6S800016. Technically the workorder was to update the PGM-FI Software using the GNA600 (whatever that is) and tool number 35540-400-00. Since my Insight only had 30,000km on it I presume it wasn't the egr that was the problem. Anyway, no more hesitation. Good luck.
