Hello All, I purchased a 2001 G1 Insight from IC member Dbl8, a very nice gentleman. With the help of a good friend, I intend to modify it to meet EU specs (TÜV) and import it to Germany (I am an expat, living in Germany). One of the requirements in Germany is a rear (red) fog light, in conversions I have seen, a toggle switch was placed in one of the 2 blank slots on the left side of the lower dash. I would like to source the OEM fog light switch that fits one of the slots, the other slot is for headlight alignment. I have been unable to find this fog light switch. If any one out there knows where I can buy one, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, the IC forum and its members are very informative and collegial.
Best,
J

Hi Jerome
That might be difficult. Part number 35170-S3Y-E01 is indeed unavailable as are almost all parts in the EU.
Here it is:
Car Vehicle Personal luxury car Fixture Auto part

It's not a very special design, just the shape is important if you don't want to modify the plastics. I don't think anyone would notice if it wasn't exactly correct - you never look at it!

The NSX one (35170-SL0-G02) looks to have a more rounded form:

The HRV light is built into an assembly with the headlamp leveller, so no good.

I suggest you talk to a specialist who works on car electrics and might have some suitable switches to try and fit.

Or does anyone out there have one?

One OE switch I found that worked in said slot is the cruise control switch found in the first-generation CR-V.

It is an on/off switch just like a fog light switch.

There's a CR-V fog light switch on eBay right now for £20 + £3 P&P:

eBay item number:
255036882176

It's in the UK, but CR-V parts likely to be MUCH easier to find...
