Hello All, I purchased a 2001 G1 Insight from IC member Dbl8, a very nice gentleman. With the help of a good friend, I intend to modify it to meet EU specs (TÜV) and import it to Germany (I am an expat, living in Germany). One of the requirements in Germany is a rear (red) fog light, in conversions I have seen, a toggle switch was placed in one of the 2 blank slots on the left side of the lower dash. I would like to source the OEM fog light switch that fits one of the slots, the other slot is for headlight alignment. I have been unable to find this fog light switch. If any one out there knows where I can buy one, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, the IC forum and its members are very informative and collegial.
Best,
J
Hi Jerome
That might be difficult. Part number 35170-S3Y-E01 is indeed unavailable as are almost all parts in the EU.
Here it is:
It's not a very special design, just the shape is important if you don't want to modify the plastics. I don't think anyone would notice if it wasn't exactly correct - you never look at it!
The NSX one (35170-SL0-G02) looks to have a more rounded form:
The HRV light is built into an assembly with the headlamp leveller, so no good.
I suggest you talk to a specialist who works on car electrics and might have some suitable switches to try and fit.
Interesting thread. My JDM car has a nasty round rocker switch for the fog light fitted into one of the blanks. The good bit is that the fog light itself is in the OS rear light cluster, rather than having the ugly EU OE lamp in the rear bumper cover.
that is what I intend to do, the German TÜV requirement is one rear red fog light and one white back up light, thinking I will replace the left rear back up light with red LED for fog light.
