Is there a chance that lean burn is turning on because of warm air over a remote sensor, but the actual air going into the combustion chamber is not warm enough to warrant a lean burn - thereby damaging the engine over time?

IAT the inlet air temp should be the sensor that controls the computer.

The behind the grille sensor is just for the auto-stop feature, at least I think.
