:D Hello people :D

This is my verry first time on this forum, and I want to start with some quistions! Because I am getting my Honda Insight within 2 weeks from now on!!!!! I can't wait!

Okay here are my questions:
-Where should I be aware of with buying one? (what to avoid)
-Does Honda also give garantee in a country where are no Insights?
-And does anyone have good tips for me?

I think that the Honda Insight is the best manmade technology in the world of cars, compared to all of the other 99,9 % of the cars on the road at this moment!!! No doubt about it!!

Greeting from Holland/the Netherlands.....Etienne.

And a warm welcome from the UK. :D

I am not sure from your post whether you have already ordered an Insight or whether you will be looking to buy one in two weeks time? Do Honda sell Insights in the Netherlands? If not, would it be better value to get a second hand one from the UK (around £7,000 to £9,000 for a low mileage example)?

Nevertheless, Congratulations on a great choice of car. 8)

In my country (holland) are no Honda Insights for sale, badly enough,so i will be the only one in this country!! I am affriad for the reactions here on the road while i am driving it. What is your experience?

Greetings Etienne :D :D

In a country noted for it's 100 percent eco friendly windmills you should get a warm reception. I live in a rural area dominated by pickup trucks. My car created quite a stir locally!

Virtually any question you can imagine has been covered on this forum.

Provided that they have the service manual any Honda dealership or any well trained competent mechanic should be able to handle servicing the Insight.

I'd prefer driving in Europe than Dallas, Texas. A lot of people ask me questions, so I just posted this website's address on the back of my Insight. Not everybody (or most) in Texas is like this, but occasionally guys in their monster trucks feel the need to blast down the freeway. On occassion, I demonstrate it's not easy to pass this "sissy" car, so they can still wonder about their manhood.

Probably for the same reason Honda took them off the market in Germany (where I grew up):
-too expensive (EUR 20k for a car that competes with a EUR 10k Smart)
-3.5l/100km is nothing to get too excited about in Europe
-Diesel is subsidized, making it difficult for a gasoline engine to compete in the economy market segment. Also, Diesel is not stigmatized like in the US.

Concerning diesel fuel, the American variety is considerably dirtier and will be for at least a few more years. In the early 1980's GM offered some diesel cars, but they performed poorly.

My experience is overwhelmingly positive 8) . People tend to stare because they haven't seen one before, then if they realise it is a Hybrid then the bolder people start asking questions. Because of its great looks, many people assume it is a sports car. Be prepared to answer lots of questions in car parks about your Insight if you get one.

In addition to the Ambassadorship material on this website, I have also created a one page handout to give to people (in English). PM me with your e-mail address if you want a copy.

Although I have a slightly provocative sign on my car saying "My car sips petrol - Yours sucks!" I have not had any adverse reaction - but this might be due to me justifying that statement with "83MPG" & "Lowest Emissions" on the bumper. On the roads, once in a blue moon you will get someone determined to overtake you aggressively - but I am sure that happens to all other drivers as well!

If you decide to buy your Insight, make sure you do the usual pre-purchase checks that you would do with any car and then you will be fine. :D
