Suckage... Ran over a nail on my rear right tire and now it's flat. Took it into the local tireshop and they said the tire has some heat damage and will be to be replaced (found the damage a little late). They're asking 96 bucks (!!!) for a single tire installed. Seems a tad expensive to me.

How hard would it be to purchase the tire say from tirerack and doing the change myself? Running on the little doughnut right now.

Bummer about that nail!

You'll still need someone to mount the tire on the rim and balance it. Can't do that without very large special equipment.

But it might be worth asking around to see how much they charge for mounting+balancing. Add that to the Tirerack price+shipping.

You may want to check around for a better price. Heck, I've been quoted about $70 per tire mounted, ballanced, valve stem, warranty, the works.

tires

If you have a Costco with a tire shop any where in your area, they can order the tire if they don't have it in stock. I forget exactly how much my tires were mounted and balanced, but I'm pretty sure it was less than $75.00.

I had a flat several months ago. Went to the local Bridgestone dealer who informed me that that particular tire was not in their computer database. I then ordered it from tirerack and got it for ~$63 to my door. I spent another $10 getting it mounted and balanced.

Good Luck
