could keeping it in FOURTH on the freeways actually slow the frequency of recals???
For the last three days I have NOT had a recal....I usually have one or two a day (that's expected with 96K and over 100 miles a day commute)

So I ask you, oh guru's of the HCH.....do you think the systems that be won't force a recal if it doesn't see FIFTH gear as often?

I'll keep you posted......but so far I've had FULL batteries for THREE DAYS!!!

PS: I also put the "6X17 cardboard" in three days ago.....hrmmmm.....

recal

Recals are forced by excessive use of the IMA. The IMA is controlled by the "LOAD" on the engine.

4th gear at 65 has less "LOAD" than 5th gear at 65.

Keep her humming around 3000 rpm, she will be happy.

You might use a little more gas, but you have the bigger tires so your "LOAD" is greater than using stock tires.

15 to 18 in. of vacuum seems to work for me.

Over 88,000 miles on the second IMA battery, had one recal and that was forced by excessive use of the IMA.

MY OPINION..........Willie

more yay!

yeah.....what he says.... :?
but i get the overcoming resistance idea.

Yeah seems this fourth gear thing is gonna pay off....for my tires/commute/terrain....batteries charge faster and stay charged longer....for this particular insight :D

i think....

staying in fourth helps me overcome my tire difference....like that one dude said....

and BTW.....NEW BEST 100 mile commute MPG: 67.3
It's kinda a big deal for this insight.....the way I drive and all

I've been doing over a 100 mile commute for over four years and have never had a recal. I had the battery/BCM replaced at 145,262 miles. Why do you say it's expected, or have I just been fortunate not to experience one?

trunkout, you made a statement and I was simply asking a question about it. I was at 145,000 miles with a 100 mile plus commute without a recal. You said it was expected to have recals at 96,000 miles and a 100 mile commute. To keep it on topic, I keep it in fifth most of the time, not fourth.
