Four deer and still no significant damage

Yes, I hit another deer  That's two in a little over a month and three in a year. Actually the deer ran into the left side, so the only damage is my fender is no longer there and the wheel cover is cracked. I'm beginning to think that silver Insights make some sort of sound that attracts deer :!: The damages have been: $850, $1257, and this time will probably be around $1000. Two of the three deer have survived. I just filled up my tank and drove home and got the best mileage(75MPG) I've gotten in a while in this cold weather we've been having. I've been struggling to hit 60MPG. Is it possible the aerodynamics of the car are better with the fender gone :?:

And here I thought you'd taken up hunting for the table :)
Being a vegan, it's not likely I'll be taking up hunting anytime soon  Actually, the deer seem to be hunting for my car and taking "shots" at it with their bodys. Almost got number five yesterday. I am so freaked about driving when it's dark that I fly home without regards to my MPG so I can get home while it's still daylight.
Sorry to hear about your deer magnet Bill.

But I'm not helping edit the title for a near miss. An inch is as good as a mile when counting deer hits and misses. :p
This is exactly why I try not to take "Miles" (my handsome 2005 blue 5-speed) out at night! I have been terrified of hitting a deer. I have had too many hits and near misses over the years in other vehicles. However, it's nice to hear that an Insight *can* survive a deer encounter.

I did get brave 2 weeks ago and take one night time drive. Didn't see any deer but I missed a ~300 lb feral hog by about 20 feet. Husband hit one of those beasts in our little s-10 pickup in November and did $2500 damage.

Yeah, I think Miles will be staying home after dark from now on.....
bfivelover,

Though you're not hunting the deer you do seem to have an active "catch and release" operation going on....

....or, maybe that's what the deer are doing? :)

Hee-hee!! too funny!

I live in the land of oversized pickups and monster 4WD's, and people are always asking what's going to happen when I hit a deer in my tiny car. After all, full-grown deer can total even the biggest pickup truck around here. I just smile and tell them the deer will probably just trip over my car  That shuts them up a while.

I like that! I'll have to make a note to use it when I finally get the Insight.

Oooops! With appropriate accreditation, of course! gfv
Had a deer jump over mine. Heard a brushing sound. It was probably the stubby antenna tickling something. Too close for comfort!
