SOLD
I'm shocked anyone attempted to haggle me on the price. I swear to god you could offer a car like mine for free and some people would argue that they should be paid for taking it. Anyway it is S O L D. Gone. Off the market. You snooze, early bird yada yada nothing more remote than one second ago etc.

It's time to let the 'cannonball' go (my K20 Insight's nickname) as I've too many cars in the stable and am looking to downsize and simplify my life. Give me a month or two and I'll also have my Citron green 2000 Insight here too: yes I have slow & fast Insights.

Here's my blog with all the facts on the swap:
1000 Cuts: My Insane Honda Insight K20 Swap is FOR SALE $10,900 OBO

Bullet points for short attention spans:
* 2000 Honda Insight - all aluminum chassis & body - modified
* Hybrid power train replaced with Honda Acura RSX-R K20 2.0 liter VTEC - 200+ HP
* Injector Dynamics 725 injection
* AEM fuel rail/regulator
* Hondata KPRO ECU
* New light flywheel
* Stage 2 clutch
* Skunk2 exhaust manifold / all stainless steel exhaust
* Completed car with 1/2 tank fuel = 1640 pounds
* 6 speed manual K20 type R trans
* Limited slip with helical gears
* Custom RSX axles and Innovative engine mounts
* lightweight alloy wheels / performance tires
* Uprated brakes (front), sway bars, suspension, shocks,
* Gauge cluster replaced with S2000 unit
* Fully functional air conditioning

The previous owner commissioned the build, quoted the cost to build & tune as $24.8K - plus 3K recent new ECU & tuning = $27.7K Honestly I feel bad for him as I bought it for much less, and you're going to get it after my expensive improvements for even cheaper. NOTE: also included in sale will be a John Wayland fabricated aluminum amplifier seat mount plate and Eclipse amplifier. I also have a Super Shoebox Sub. If anyone needs these outside of this sale I recommend that you get in touch with me.

If you want to dominate your gymkhana scene and drive the same car to work next day this is your warship.

The price is as low as I can go. I've been told it's possible to build one for this much, but here it is, already built. Life's short.

The A/C has a newly replaced compressor and blows cold and it's ready for a cross country adventure. No previous accident damage and it's tight as a drum without squeaks or rattles. Caveats are few: the tone rings for the ABS are oddly rusty and sometimes trigger the ABS light. If it sits for a week without being driven there's a slow electrical drain that makes starting sluggish. I'm not good at troubleshooting electrical issues so I opted to put a battery disconnect on it. Get it for a remarkably low price. Located in Tampa FL. Fly in & drive it home or if you need help with shipping I'll certainly lend a hand. Don't forget to tour the local Salvador Dali museum while here.

Hey, Piston Slap Yo Mama! You said this car was a commissioned build, but it's using Innovative mounts. So is it done by LHT?

$11k is starting to get in stretch reach for me. But I assume it doesn't have a cat/working OBDII and can't pass emissions?

Yep PSYM here. Not a LHT build but they've worked on it, most recently replacing the A/C compressor and associated piping and troubleshooting an issue. I bought the cannonball from an agent in Pennsylvania then drove it back to Austin TX then on to Tampa FL where we're within shouting distance of LHT Performance.

$10.9k is cheeep. Check your couch cushions sir.

Can you please explain the emissions situation? I don't know about Tampa, but I'm pretty sure it had to pass in Austin. If it can pass that's a big deal for a lot of us.

Thanks!

What I did not know before attempting to pass emissions in Texas: the Hondata ECU won't return any errors and that's good. However there's no catalytic converter so if / when they do a visual inspection they'll get grumpy. Put a cat on and likely you're golden. Florida is very libertarian on this issue; nobody cares. But then again our governor doesn't allow state workers to mention climate change or global warming, so maybe that's part of Florida's lackadaisical attitude towards emissions.

I so wish I had the upfront money to buy this. Looks like such an amazing car.
