My insight was lightly crashed before i bought it. The fuel gauge doesn't work (stays on empty or close to empty, even if its full). I heard that this is most likely due to the sending unit being damaged. I went to the dealer and they said that I would have to get the whole fuel pump for $200. I doubt it. Also, do any of you know the exact procedure to change the unit? I saw a thread a while ago but i can't find it. Thanks.

Here's the most recent link which references an older.

The sender is available seperately. But you do have to R&R the pump for replacement

You can try a parts look-up for yourself here:

or here:

The proceedure is somewhat involved and not a newbie task. You'll need the experience, correct tools and the Service Manual, sorry.

HTH! :)

p.s. Please don't "spam" the forum with the same (or effectively so) question. Your post in the other sending unit thread has been deleted. And it was a 6 month old thread too. ;)

i have the service manual and probably more tools than some small mechanic shops. i also have plenty of experience with "regular" cars, hence i was asking the procedure because i saw it here a few months ago and now it seems like it was deleted or something. my whole IMA compartment is disassembled and i wanted to change this part before i wasted my time screwing everything back together.

Well now I'm totally confused :?

If you've got the "book" what's the question :?:

Since you've got the SM try p.g.11-134 for the procedure. AFAI remember the post was one of mine. I didn't post the procedure merely my experience and an outline. The SM would be required if your going to attempt the job.
