Just saw this article in my news feed tonight. The author is clearly a fan, but I think he’s right. (I’m a fan, too.)

I would be curious where he came up with that 2014 study that apparently rated the Insight at 83mpg.

Maybe the author meant 83 miles per Imperial gallon. Otherwise, 83 mpg is a bit....of a stretch.

The Insight was EPA rated at 61 city and 70 mpg highway when it came out in 2000.

For the manual transmission Insights, that has since been revised to 48-49 city and 58-61 mpg highway based on the EPA's new testing methodology...which, given the way most people drive their Insights, is fair.

The UK Government fuel consumption figures (mpg/l/100km) were as follows:

Urban: 68.9 / 4.1
Extra Urban: 94.2 / 3.0
Combined: 83.1 / 3.4
CO2 Emission: 80

source: Honda Model Range brochure issue date 11/01

There's a photograph of a UK registered citrus in the article, but I don't think it's a UK website.

Imperial gallons do flatter our numbers!

Edit: Fascinating how our display shows a (!) symbol for the handbrake, while the US has BRAKE. Just noticed that.

Actually that is the "third finger" signal about mpg.

Many different languages? Yes, that sounds like a very reasonable explanation for the symbol.

Of course you folks only have two kinds of music too, I hear: Country and Western? ;)
