Hello everyone. I am new to IC and a new Insight owner. I purchased a 2001 CVT around 3 weeks ago. Everything was fine until I was pulling a pretty steep hill on the highway and the IMA light came on. Shortly after this, the check engine light. It’s a 20 year old battery , so after reading here it seems one should start with a grid charge. Then a discharge. Is it better to discharge using the light bulbs, or to buy a unit that discharges for you?

^ In general, if money's no object, then one of the Hybridautomotive/Prolong units that monitor discharge voltage and allow you to set/use voltage cutoff thresholds is better than manually discharging with light bulbs, simply because it reduces the amount of attention you need to pay. Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

Thank you. I have ordered prolong charger and discharger. I will post results later. Hopefully they will be good, otherwise guess I will save for BumbleBee battery.
