I came across the very first articles of the car in late 98, early 99.
I knew I had to get the car at any price but wasn't too sure if it was going to be available here in Germany. It was then where I came to use the www. for the first time, yup....late starter
I had to drive some 75 kms (quite a drive for German standards) to the ONLY dealer who had an Insight standing on the lot in mid 2000. I even had to talk him around to get the car registered for a test-drive. I came back afterwards saying I'd want it.....I still remember the look on his face
Without any hassle I swapped my 97' Civic for the Insight.

I've owned so far:
-82' VW Golf
-87' Rover 213 (Honda Ballade)
-91' Honda Civic saloon
-95' Suzuki Swift (Geo Metro)
-90' Honda CRX (us-spec., 90hp)
-89' Honda CRX (us-spec., 110hp)
-97' Honda Civic (90 hp)
-00' Honda Insight (ZE1.....166)

I've never thought my love for Honda would grow THIS far, as it did since I have my Insight. I'm a mechanic and did my apprenticeship at the local Honda dealer in Paderborn
Honda,......engineering at it's best !

......sorry, got sort of carried away there 8)

Before test driving my 2000 Insight (back in 2000) I spent a lot of time reading up on the car in the Owner's Central, Knowledge Base, and Encyclopedia areas of InsightCentral.net.

I think I had made up my mind, but in the process of looking for an Insight I got a ton of information from the general site (this was before the forums existed). I probably would have still bought the car though. The yahoo group at the time was the main place to get questions answered.

Sadly, I must admit it was the Road and Track review back in 2001 which finally convinced me to buy an Insight (still have the issue). I happened upon Insight central on accident while looking for Insight info about a week after I got my car.

I'm glad so many Insight drivers have been created due to this website.

Way to go ... :D

Before I noticed this website, I already wanted an Insight, but it speeded up by 10000 % on buying it, because it is a money maker for me. I noticed that the Insight saves me $2500,- on fuel savings a year 8) and I just loved the model because of the technical advances compared to my previous cars. This website made me realizing verry well !!!! THANKS FOLKS!!!!! and verry fast. But I had to find out about the laws here in this country, because there was no Insight in the Netherlands, I am (still) the only one :( , but hey, I have you guys :D

When I want to buy an other car, it has to be better than my current car, but there was no better car, untill the Honda Insight came...............

It came, it saw & and had a victory

Wanting to buy...

I lusted over it when I first read about it in 1999. However, with four children and one job, money is frequently rather tight for us, so I needed to wait until the price on used had dropped to a level we considered reasonable.

Once I found that I needed to look for a new car in earnest due to a new job, I began hitting eBay and other vendors for any kind of cheap used car. I noticed an Insight going for a song on eBay, got excited, started doing searches, realized I could finally afford one, and hunted for a couple of weeks before finding the perfect one. I had found insightcentral.net by that time, and what it really affected was how I chose the car.

Mark, 2500 pounds sterling? that's over 5,000 dollars Canadian!
Not that surprising when British gas prices are around 80 pence per litre (@ £3 per gallon?) = @ $6 Canadian per gallon !!! :?

Wow,

$6 per ghallon, that is almost double what we pay here in Canada (about $0.80 per liter or $3.80 per igallon, imperial)

At that price we would have way more hybrids(read Insights) on the road. It would be sad for us to paid that much money but then saving gas would mean more.

Has Anyone Else Bought An Insight Because Of This Site

Having driven an Insight while in my home state of Ky in 2000 I resigned to waiting until I became tired of my new Smart car here in the UK before looking further. That moment came last September when I visited this site and educated myself before seriously searching and locating a low mileage one owner oxygen blue (in mint condition)2000 model. The previous owner had traded it in on one the same color! but brand new.
Five months have passed and I am still :) but something strange has happened,it seems I am no longer interested in purchasing anything,a non-consumer,its as if all my desires have been fulfilled??total satisfaction,if I ever come down off this high I hate to think what will happen the Insight may be a danger to health in ways it wasn't designed for!
Anyway thanks to all for the education.
