After a few terrible experiences with dealerships, I started performing my own maintenance a good while back. General maintenance (fluid/filter changes, etc.), EGR valve replacement, battery pack replacement. We don't drive a tremendous amount, really only on the weekends and have accumulated 110k in 14 years; garage kept the whole time. I'm looking at a much longer daily commute now (~60 miles round trip), and am going to be using the vehicle for those stretches.
I'd like to have someone give the car a good once over, and be honest with me. I see rust on the fuel line bracket, so I will probably be changing that soon. Maybe spark plugs as well. But I'm reaching the limit on what I am comfortable doing myself, as I am by no means a mechanic.
Is there anyone reputable in the Chicago Metro area that would be recommended to look at the vehicle?
