would a performance oil filter help gasmilage and performance?

Seems like a decent filter, although I don't know the specs for the OEM or others with regards to pore size, etc.

I know that I do like the built-in nut on the end for removing. That's one of those "why hasn't someone thought of that before?" things.

It's not cheap, is it? ($13.80) but not that bad, I guess....

The answer is no.
But using a quality engine oil filter is almost as important as using a quality synthetic engine oil for minimizing engine wear.

___Besides a quality Synthetic, Mobil1 0W-20 in particular offers an extremely low viscosity for us high mileage enthusiasts while at cruising temperatures ;)

Mobil1 0W-20 - cSt @ 100º C = 8.4
