I read that Honda is to produce a 1-liter-car (one liter of fuel per 100 kms!!) from 2008 onwards. It will be sold in Europe, North-America and Asia. Honda hasn't confirmed it, but to keep costs down it will be built in Thailand.
I'm sorry but I've lost the link but that was all NO details on engine and soforth.....

On the same Channel 4 website, there are spyshots of the new Civic (posted before) but I don't remember them saying that "Type R and fuel saving hybrid versions are certain" previously. :D

http://www.channel4.com/4car/gallery/sp ... civic.html

Another bit of good news is that a revised Honda Jazz will be launched in 2007 and should be available in the USA. Also a possible station wagon style Civic to be launched as well.

The bad news is that this site doesn't mention the launch of the Insight 2 in late 2005  but does say that the other concept around at the same time, the HSC, is due for release as the new NSX.

That picture kind of reminds me of the Ford Think City.

YUCK.

I'd rather have this 240 mpg "1 liter" car. It looks sexier:

....I'd rather shoot myself than be seen driving in it !
One big hoax, the driving from Wolfsburg to Hamburg a year ago, imo.

Hoax as in MPG? The car not real? Neither or both?

I don't understand No. 166. :!:

Please tell us. :?:

I found the site:

http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-vw-1-liter-car.htm

And the reported MPG = 264 (converted from .89L / 100Km)

Single cylinder diesel (300 cc, 0.3L) with magnesium frame and unpainted carbon graphite body, sounds do-able, with xcel driving. <g>

Well, they did it no question. But it's the HOW:

-At first it was on a Sunday. The motorways being "empty", without the trucks, which aren't allowed to drive Sundays. So that they didn't slow traffic down completely by this attempt.

-Then go and fetch a topographical map of northern Germany.
You will notice that the stretch from Wolfsburg to Hamburg which they drove is a constant downhill drive. They never drove the car back. They put it on the back of a van. Wonder why. Not enough power maybe ? Mess up their average consumption maybe ?

One big media hoax, imo. :?

It looks cute to me, like a squished Insight.

I wonder if it is tippy because it is so long vs wide?

I wonder what the fuel economy does for a 290 kg car when a 100 kg person sits in it!

Maybe you put a gallon of milk in the back and then you have to get out and push...

My guess is that the 3-litre cars are the next ones to be axed.
VW cannot afford these exotic ventures anymore. They have spent too much money on Rolls-Royce/Bentley and on the ridiculous "Bugatti".
Still hoping though.
