I don't expect my friends to find any humour in it at all, that would defeat the purpose. I expect them to WAKE UP!
Every time I mention this, I get my peepee smacked but here it goes: This rise in petrol prices is exactly what this country needs. This is the wake-up call for everyone. Rampant consumerism is actually consuming us, with no discerning between a "need" and a "want". Bigger, better, and faster - with no regard to how it effects those around us or the planet.
With this rise, hopefully, the greedy and glutenous will be forced to choose more wisely those things that are really necessary in life. I think in laymen's terms, people will be forced to "prioritize" their life.
Now, with that, I know that the first ones effected will be the lower income folks. For that I'm sorry....many choices, both good and bad, bring people to this point. Most of the "poorer folks" I know here in Central Florida have 5 kids, 4 dogs, 2 jacked up 4x4's and a boat or atv...smoke 2 packs a day, etc. Poor really?...or just screwed up priorities? For the rest, all I can say is that I've been there...very, very poor...but I worked my *** off and am free.
