I found this website recently: http://gasbuddy.com/ , and though we spend a lot less for gas than the SUV owner's groups (ha ha) it's still interesting to see that the range in price - at stations about equidistant from my house - is as much as 12 cents per gallon. Other parts of the country may experience even greater extremes.
That said, I usually only buy brand name gas (for the Insight - I'll put anything in the S-10) - I never look for the absolute cheapest of anything - there's usually another price to be paid for "cheap".
The site is easy to use, and more people logging on will make it even easier to use. YMMV
