Let ask this 12V battery question

Coming from a proffersional boating background, and I may be way off base. Let`s say the IMA is dead and I want to run on 12V a while. If I have the one 12V battery, can I add another to the system as a backup using a marine battery selector switch? The switch would be able to let me select one 12V battery at a time. My daughter last night got stranded, I got to her and jumped it and gave it enough juice to let me get the car home. If I install a 2nd 12V battery and switch all she would have to do is turn it and go. Does this sound like something that would fly?

Sure, it would work just fine and I've wanted to do the same thing myself.

Hi, There have been two or three posts by people who got the 12v charging, under 4k rpm, by flipping the switch. Here's a discussion: To disconnect the BCM follow the instructions here through step 11, skipping 7 and 8: http://www.hybrid-battery-repair.com/insight/removal/removal.html Then:
I have did all this yet it’s still does not work. When I sit a stop lights my car shuts down and my wheel locks then after if I drive slow it does the same thing. How do I fix it without spend tons of money.
