2010 Honda Insight

The reason why if you care to know,
Hi, being the person I am i feel like i need to upgrade my IMA battery fan since summer is coming. I live in California, LA and our summer is 93*F to 98 *F normally with a few days of 100*f I know you need to keep the batties fairly cool according to the door jam sticker but I park outside in the direct sun so the inside gets nice and hot. It's not "extreme" where I need a leaf blower fan but i need more airflow since i hear the stock fan is **** and its 8 years old so im sure it's very dusty.

Getting to the point,
So, I need old threads that can help or any comments. I've never opened the battery so let's being with that tool I need to take the cover off? and safety tips? Here is one i want to use http://www.insightcentral.net/forums/modifications-technical-issues/92617-my-upgraded-battery-fan.html#post1393431

the fan he used has a cfm of 129 which is better than oem right? ??????????????????<<<<<<<

Next if replacing the oem fan with a beefer fan will i need to change the relay and how would I do that? Same wattage just better cfm

I tried to find some old threads but they didn't have pictures or any real good information i could use.
:D

thanks :D

Service Manual: http://www.insightcentral.net/forums/honda-insight-forum-2nd-gen-discussion/61922-download-2010-2011-insight-service-electrical-troubleshooting-manuals-pdf.html
IMA system discription starting at page 12-1.
Very carefully read page 12-3. The battery has a voltage of more than 100V, be careful!!!!
In the second generation another type of fan is a turbine. If you can find such (unlikely), then try to install.

Civic Hybrid:

Insight G2:

But that's not all.
The fan has a control board and four wires. 1 ignition, 2 power (12V), 3 speed control (5V), 4 - ground.

A lot of factors interfere with the replacement of the fan by any other.
Clear fan battery: https://www.drive2.ru/l/466937025744863318/

The best solution: do just cleaning and lubricating.

Great way to kill a G2 battery is to go screwing with its cooling system. Arguably the best Honda ever made.

You will NOT find an upgrade for the G2 fan. It's a leaf blower.

Lmafo ok i had no idea i assumed the G1 insight had the same battery as the G2 but now i just want to clean it. Now i know what im dealing with...... its gonna be a long and annoying job to take all the trim off and put it back. 5 hours of work :/ i noticed i need to remove the rear seat top half where it folds down and up since the trim goes into it now i gotta find a post that helps with that....... i unziped the seat a little and saw no bolts unless im blind

Actually, the above parts are used and don’t look dirty at all. Believe me, junk yards do not clean things. I think your best bet is to do nothing. Well, maybe be sure you are not blocking vents. Also, find some shade.

... i need to remove the rear seat top half...
I did not understand why you need to remove the seats. According to the service manual, there is no need to touch the seats to disassemble the ventilation system and the fan of the battery. All you need is just to clean the pipes and the fan.
20-68 to 20-69
Remove C-pillar trim

20-70 to 20-72
Remove Cargo Areas

12-193
Remove IPU Fan

12-194
Remove Air Duct

By the way, the fan for the Fit Hybrid is 99% similar to Insight, but rotates the other direction.
