Just after receiving the warranty extension letter from Honda of America my IMA failed during my commute to work (the check engine light came on, IMA light came on, and battery gauge dropped to 0). While my local dealer questioned whether the battery was actually under warranty they also offered to replace the battery as a courtesy. While it took about 5 days for my dealer to get the part the actual replacement only took 1.2 hours.

It's been about 2,000 miles and 38 days since the IMA battery (DTC.P1449) was replaced and the only issue has been that a few clips in the trunk were missing when the trunk was buttoned up.

Has anyone else had a problem with the IMA failing after the warranty extension? I gave my local dealer a copy of the letter I had received regarding the warranty extension and can post a copy if anyone needs it.

The new extension goes to 10 years or 150,000 miles IIRC there have only been a few reported IMA battery failures past that point.

AFAIK you'll be on your own then.
