There was a lot of jerking happening last night during the drive during highway speeds (55-65). Now, the IMA light is on, so I have to take it in to the dealership. I'm still getting 70 mpg without the IMA (the IMA battery is completely down, no lights, no recharge, nothing, nada, zip, zilch). Is it bad to run the car without the IMA functioning? This is so upsetting, but thank god the car is still under warranty. I hope I do not have a lemon.

I've gotten several recomendations for a dealership in southern California, does anyone have any other suggestions? If anyone knows of a good mechanic/dealer familiar with repairing Insights in the so-cal area, I would greatly appreciate the recommendation.

If anyone also has any idea of what this could be, that would be great.

Thanks.

It sounds like what happened to me - replacement of the battery pack, BCM, MCM - Honda pays everything past the first $450 (I was just past warranty).

I think the Insight will work fine without the IMA, but the dealership said no. Suspect it they were in the legal CYA mode...

If you have a volt meter check your 12 volt batteries voltage and recharge if necessary after each trip. The DC/DC will eventually stop working. If the dash battery warning light comes on the car is about to start dying in flight. Of course it did take mine about a month to do this, and it seems as of late the batteries have been comming in in less than the 55 days I had to wait for mine.

S Cal Where?

Please complete your profile at least with the city and town you are in.

That makes it easier for fellow Insighters in your area to respond with help.
Thanks.
