NBC has been featuring a Honda Civic Hybrid on The "Today" Show. It is traveling from CA to NY with familes in a Lincoln SUV and a Ford 500.

Each day total gas cost are given for each car. Of cource the Civic is by far the cheapest to operate. The driver said He is averaging 39 MPG. They came through the Colorado Rockys so that may account for the low mpg. They are also pushing the speed limits to keep up with the larger SUV and Ford 500.

Today some background was given on Hybrids. A silver & a blue Insight were shown and a quick dash & luggage area shot.

All 3 cars will be on the show Thurs & Friday. This is great press for hybrids.

Excellent, and a good comparison if they all drive at the same speed on the same route together.

The other test would be to make the SUVs drive slowly and keep the Civic at it's best mpg.

I suppose it is an automatic Civic?
