I'm in Maryland and would love to be involved in an Insight get together if I was able to swing it depending on location and timing. Any of the places y'all have mentioned wouldn't be too much of a journey for me. I've always thought Honda would do something of the sort that Saturn does with their owners, if only to have a captive audience of Insight owners whose brains they could pick about the car.

East Coast Insight Rally

Folks;

Suggested Title: East Coast Insight Rally. I'm in central NC and willing/able to drive up to 500 mile radius over a weekend. There was formerly an Insight get-together in Eastern NC, Jacksonville, NC. Sponsored by a Honda dealer back in 2000:

It's always good to hook up with a dealer: they know the car. Time for another one?

I'd love to do one in California. My S2000 club does them from time to time and we have a blast. We just had a BBQ in Sac and had 20 cars and over 60 people. Great time!!

Insight Gathering

Mark, we could meet in Raleigh on April 11th or 12th and have a small Insight get together and plan for a larger rally this summer, perhaps in Asheville as Rick Reece suggested. I think Asheville is a great location for several reasons, one of which is the Blue Ridge Parkway.

On Friday and Saturday, April 11th and 12th, there is an electric vehicle rally & autocross competition scheduled in the Raleigh, NC area. Most of the vehicles have been built by high schools in the Carolinas and show some excellent workmanship. I’ll be there as a judge/tech inspector and will have my Insight available for display. This could be a good time to make plans for a future event and see some excellent electric vehicle technology at the same time. Those in attendance would love to see our Insights, so it would be great to arrange in advance to park together.

Saturday’s Autocross is being held at the EPA’s new facility and campus in Research Triangle Park. Because the EPA facility is a federal facility and we are at war, there are security concerns and requirements. Anyone desiring to attend Saturday’s autocross must give me your name for the guest list by the morning of April 9th; and you must show up with a Photo ID (driver’s license, etc.) to attend the Saturday event. No one will be admitted without their name being on the guest list. Friday’s events are at the Harris Energy and Environment Visitor’s center, no ID required.

Maps and other info about the event can be found at http://www.evchallenge.org
All who would like to attend send me your name at [email protected]

Autocrossing Insights, that would be interesting to watch. I may have to do that myself if our local SCCA club has an event in the rain. I refuse to drive the S2K in the rain, so I will autoX the Insight so I can get some championship and event points.
