The GPS pics are quite nice, and the layout is extremely similar to what I'm wanting to do.
I just recently came to the conclusion that to have what I want for my Insight, I would have built a double din console for my car, which I'm not real anxious to do. The pics of the Japanese Insight is almost exactly what I had in mind, and I may not have to build anything at all knowing that the dash pieces already exist.
Does anyone have the Honda part numbers for the plastic dash shrowd around the GPS display, and any other parts up to, but not including the GPS display in the dash?

I'm very well aware that the GPS dash piece is backwards, but It will bring me a big step forward from molding one from scratch (yes, I'm able to do this).
I would imagine it would be fairly trivial to modify this particular piece, cause this porton of the dash is quite simetrical.
I have a friend that travels to Japan on a regular basis, so having a part number for this piece will help me alot.

I too considered the flip out screen, but came to the same conclusion that you did. The dash leaves some limited options for mobile video, so I figured either a console from a different honda (mid 90's prelude console) which would provide for double din, or something home grown.
I do mobile security & custom audio for a living, so I can't wait to start tinkering with my new insight!
