Hello,

I just found your forums while doing my Insight homework. I'm with you all in spirit, but I want to be with you on the road as well. I'm in southern California. I know about the incentives, but am having trouble finding a car lot that actually has an Insight. Honda says there's an "04, but the salesmen (who I don't trust anyway) tell me there won't be any. Best price quote for an automatic '03 with AC is 19,300 although there is ONE auto trans I found that they'll sell for $18,800. Are these in the right ball park? Should I order a new "04 and how does one do that anyway? The "04 seems to be the same as the "03 essentially with a different stereo and inside color. Any advice is welcome and much appreciated.

Thanks!

Insights from 1999 thru 2004 are practically the same. Some will point out minor differences, but the style and performance is the same. Honda changed the available colors and for model year 2004 offers a much better factory stereo, but that's basically it.

If you can find a second-hand Insight in good condition, it might be a great bargin. If you want the best mpg possible now, go for the 5-speed Insight - it's about 20% better than the CVT automatic version.

Hi David:

___I don’t know about ordering an 04 but since Honda announced it, you should be able to order it from any Honda dealer in the states. As for looking for other Insight’s, Cars.com, Autotrader.com, Autobytel.com, and even Ebaymotors.com are great places to start.

___Good Luck

Try visiting Nelson Honda in El Monte. I got my Insight there for 15,000 and a HCH for 18,500.

When I purchased the Insight & HCH September of last year, they had an '02 blue Insight CVT model on the lot. Visited them again this year in March or so and it was still there. Perhaps you can visit and see if they still have it.

Thanks!

Sees like they're just aren't any '03s (manual) left on lots in Calif. I've pretty much decided to order the '04 but none of the salespeople I've talked to know when they're going to show up. (I test drove the Civic just out of curiosity. They did a nice job. It seems huge inside, but only boastsmileage in the 40's.)

Oddly enough, thier price sheet today did not list the "04 price. Is that a bad omen?

Same story here when I with Insight hunting. NO dealer I went to had 5spd models in stock. Those who had the car in stock had only CVTs. Bit the bullet and bought one at the end. Needed a car ASAP and couldn't really wait.
