I have searched IC but can't find an answer.

Does anyone know if Honda has claimed that Insights are made from recycled material?

I have read on separate occasions (but now can't remember where) that the aluminium used in our Insights is recycled.

I have also read that (some or all?) of the interior is made from recycled material.

Does anyone have any information about this?

IIRC the Insight was designed to be more readily recyclable, but does not contain any significant percentage of recycled materials in its construction.

IIRC see:

Thanks for that - guess I didn't look hard enough.

The technical paper does make several references to recyclability which I agree indiciates that the Insight is designed to be recycled rather than being made of recycled material...... but it doesn't necessarily preclude the possibility that recycled material was specifically included in the Insight's manufacture.

Anyone have any other information?

If you mean is the Insight made of recycled pop cans that have been melted and used directly, I'd say no, although I've jokingly told people mine is made of recycled beer cans. :D

The Insight uses 5 different alloys of aluminum. Although it is possible that recycled aluminum was used in the refining process, the electrical refining of aluminum produces pure aluminum which then has other metals added to it to produce the final alloy.

Kip -

Were the beer cans that your Insight is made of emptied by you personally?
