"The Jaguar XJR-9 evolved from its predecessor XJR-8, debuting in 1988 at the 24 Hours of Daytona. It won immediately. A year later, it came in second, behind the Miller High Life Porsche 962 -- one of the finest synergies of racing and cheap beer to this day. And in 1990, this #61 Castrol-sponsored XJR-9, chassis number 388, led Jaguar to win yet another Daytona.
We're not crediting its success to fender skirts, one of the most memorable aspects of the car, but it may as well have been the fender skirts."

I well remember that car. It looked magnificent on the Dayton high banks. One of the prettiest of all the big cats.

The spats certainly didn't hurt any!

Thanks for the memories.
