I was wondering if the keyless entry option was worth the cost (like almost 400 USD)? I could go for something like Commando and get a keyless entry for under a hundred.

Does anyone have any eperience with non-honda keyless entry systems in their Insight? I'd like something that opens all doors and the rear hatch? Or am I better off just getting the keyless entry through Honda and bite the proverbial bullet?

I'm sorry for all these newbie questions but I'm an expecting Insight mom getting the nursery ready, so to speak...

It was a standard feature on our 2000, is it not where you are?

We sold our Insight due to the new arrival. We needed three seats. Are you planning on a car seat in the passenger seat?

I'm going to talk to the salesperson. He's new and he's never really seen an Insight until last week. He said he thought the keyless entry was optional... I'll ask to make sure it's not because I hear it's standard.

 :x

Maybe he really just doesn't know. Maybe he's being a jerk and trying to rip me off... I suppose I'll see when I see the dealership in person (Showcase Honda in AZ).

the keyless entry is standard.

unless it's broken all you need is a controller which from a dealership will probably run you $60-80, but can be found online for 40ish.

the only issue you may have is that if you have a security system it doesn't use the same remote as the normal keyless entry.

i work for a honda warehouse so if you need any more info lmk

Did you buy it new? It should have two remotes, two black keys and one grey valet key. If it's used then the above isn't necessarily true. If you can't get any remotes out of them you can buy second hand remotes from S2000's or CRV's and make them work for the Insight, they will have an extra non functioning button for the trunk but they can be had for around $15.
