Anybody have a favorite that works well on Insights and lasts a long time? I usually use Super Bright LEDs, but they don't have any amber ones in stock right now. I can wait, but I thought I'd explore other options.

do you run a resistor with the LEDs to keep it from flashing quickly?
My turn signals are still incandescent. A resistor is one way to fix the fast flashing, but I think using a different flasher is the better way.

That's what I was wondering. On my Celica I got a different flasher relay so I didn't need any resistor for the LED turn signals. Like Calpod, I'd like to know too if you got a different flasher in mind.

I got on the LED bandwagon several years ago, and replaced my incandescent bulbs with LEDs on all the fleet one weekend. The Insight, however, did not like them on the brake lights: I forget exactly what effect it had on the mileage display, or maybe the auto-stop function, but something was off immediately. I switched them back to regular incandescent bulbs and never looked back. The turn signals flash faster (which is fine by me, they're brighter and they get attention... I've followed My Beloved home a couple of times when she drove, and noticed the difference) and oh, the backup lights, [chef's kiss] show much more than the funky OEM bulbs, it's as bright as day on the backup camera display I have on the head unit

I also replaced mine with LED's several years ago and did not have any problems with the brake lights, I got the ones that flash quickly when you first press the pedal and from behind it will call your attention if you're not looking at the car, someone had mentioned they are not legal but I've never been pulled off and I have police cars behind me several times.
I had also placed an LED bar on the rear spoiler but it got weather damaged and cannot find it anywhere. I'll have to go to the old thread and look for the model number.

I kind of want to play around and do a fun LED matrix for the tail lights. When the bulbs go out on mine I'll probably switch to LEDs as well like I did the headlamps.

The Insight, however, did not like them on the brake lights: I forget exactly what effect it had on the mileage display, or maybe the auto-stop function, but something was off immediately.
That sounds a bit like a fluke. I doubt tail lights could have that kind of effect on an old OBD2 car. Maybe something weird on a newer CANBUS car, but I don't think 1G has any real connection with the brake lights themselves, just the brake light switch.

The tail/brake LED bulbs need to be CK-type on an Insight. There are two ways a 7443 socket can be wired. It makes no difference with incandescent bulbs, but matters with LEDs. I didn't know this when I bought LED tail/brake bulbs. After blowing a couple of fuses, I learned about the two types. Instead of returning the bulbs, I modified them to work.

Any suggestions which flasher works better with LED turn signals?
Places that sell LED bulbs usually offer a compatible flasher. I think some "heavy duty" flashers will work as well.

If LEDs are for your Insight, please do justice by choosing automotive grade leds from reputable brands with some experience like Philips, Sylvania, etc and skip ebay noname leds that "are brighter" but dies weeks later for the same price.

That being said, I was able to track down old school discontinued Philips xtreme Ultinons for every bulb in the Insight. I use ambers for turn signals and red for brakes have yet experience any problems comming from Phillips leds which came with 7-14years warranty at the time. Some are still available now if you do some digging thru chinese led jungle.

To fix hyperflash from turn signals, I use Novita signal flash relay available at AutoZone model EP26, EP27, EP28, EP29, or EP34 to replace original one under dash/steering. My research lead me to part number that still hyperflash but I was able to test and return on the spot for the correct one.
! Note. ! Turn signals still flash faster than oem but no where near as fast or ennoying as without relay.

Rant! Highly recommend replacing rear brake lamp 7440 to LEDs as a safety enhancement priority in ones to-do list especially for an Insight due to LED response being much faster than incandescant bulbs. Meaning when you step on the brake pedal, those behind you will see your brake light illuminate faster than oppose to oem incandescant bulbs, plus no "ghosting" from on to off. This would give those behind our insights an extra second to react and not total our aluminum can cars from a rear end collision.

You have to watch the overall length on the front turn signals because most of them won't fit. I put this one in https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q8RZRZV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and it works, but it's at a slight angle since it wouldn't fit in straight, overall length is 2.05". They have worked fine since Thanksgiving, but I plan on installing these, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BXP49Q4?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details because the overall length is 1.66". The longer ones fit fine in the rear turn signals and they don't hyperflash, the resistor is built in to the bulb. For the brake lights I put in these, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09P15SG44?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and they work great. For the backup lights I installed https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KFS93PS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Since I have a 2000 Citrus I installed green parking lights in the front, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088H7PXS6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details For the headlights I used these and they work great https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071R3KTBB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is what I'd highly recommend (and use myself), especially if you're looking for quality and want them to last the lifetime of your vehicle - Vleds Turn Signal Bulb.

Agreed 100% - quality over quantity any day!
