I joined InsightCentral almost two years ago. I didn't have an Insight then, but I knew I wanted one. I often just lurked and I learned a lot from all the experts here. I just hoped that someday I'd be able to put this knowledge to use firsthand.

Well, for two years that opportunity didn't happen. Kids, saving for their college, home repairs. You name it. Life's other responsibilities always took a priority.

Well just last weekend I was in the right place at the right time. I was at a local Honda dealer checking out the new Honda Fits and they had just taken in a trade of a 2000 5sp Green. And best of all, it was in mint condition with < 14K miles on it. They quoted me a great price. I'm not the type of person that does things spontaneously, but I bought it right there on the spot. This is the last thing one should expect to happen with gas prices they way they are I figured it must be fate.

Now I still have some explaining to do with my wife, but that is another matter.

So we've had it a few days. I'm putting all my built-up knowledge to use finally. I got >75mpg on my morning commute yesterday. Thank you all so much. This is a blast.

Congrats! I have lusted after the green. You scored with the low milage too. I don't think you will have too much explaining to do after a while. Not with these gas prices anyway.

Wow! That is great. I can't imagine the Insight was there for long before you snatched it up. Mine was at the dealer for less than 24 hours waiting for me and 4 people made offers on it!!!!! The green is the bestest color, I am very jealous, but blue is my second favorite

Wow!! You got very lucky considering the price of gas these days. (Was the seat still warm from the former owner?)

Hope your wife likes it .. green looks funky on the Insight (in a good kind of way) .. but with gas above $3 in most places, your gas costs will be like 1/5 what everyone else pays for the same distance driven.

WoW!! A 14k Citrus! EXCELLENT!! I wish mine would of been that low when I got it. I found mine a year ago with 52k, I'm at 69k now. Still waiting for the battery to go south - it'll happen soon - frequent recals every 100-200 miles.
