I'm unclear as to exactly what is broken on your instrument cluster. But from your other thread, it sounds like you have more of a mechanical problem, rather than any issues with your electronics like the LCD screen and the main board on the back side of the cluster. The main circuit board in the back of the cluster has the chip on it that stores you car's mileage.
If it were me, I would want to send your cluster to a reputable someone who could replace/repair whatever is broken. This way, you would be able to retain the correct mileage for your vehicle.
Shameless plug: I have access to a pile of spare Insight cluster parts and would be able to perform such a repair.
If you are interested, feel free to send me a PM.
Are you able to have your car in a largely undriveable state for a couple of weeks?
