All,

Everyone is invited to join myself and possibly Steve from Phoenix to meet Willie in old downtown Yuma for lunch at Lute's Casino on Sunday March 19th. It actually hasn't been a casino since the 50's but it is full of interesting items and objects hanging off the walls and the ceiling. We will be arriving between 11-12, here is the website if you want to check it out.
Home - Lutes Casino, Yuma, Arizona

Address:
Lutes Casino
221 Main Street
Yuma, AZ 85364

For anyone that wants after that not far away is the Yuma Territorial Prison, it is pretty interesting to go see and only costs $6 bucks to get in.

If anyone from the San Diego area is interested, I can get a caravan together for the trip.
I'll post the details later on.

The OLD CASINO Is a very unusual place to visit. You will get a chuckle out of the DECOR. Good food and reasonable prices also.

A good chance for a get together with other G1 Insighters. The Yuma prison is interesting also, a good look at past history which a lot of people nowdays ignore.

For people in SD it is probably a 3 hour drive, but in a CARAVAN it's seems shorter and a lot of fun/entertainment.

It looks like we will have 3 caravans starting and two finishing. I will have a caravan to meet up with Scott and his group in El Centro, then WE will caravan into Yuma.

Any San Diego area Insighters who would like to join the caravan. PM me for details.

All "Having Lunch with Willie".

Wishing all have a great time in Yuma. I know you will. Wished the Insighters' get-together was a little closer to Atlanta area. I would love to meet everyone and be there to enjoy the fun.

While stationed at El Tora MCAS, CA in the early 60's, we would deploy to Yuma for gunnery runs & practice in-general. I know Yuma has changed a lots since them, but would be good to be there with all Insighters and experience it once more.

Again, have a great one & drink a cold-one (maybe 2 or 3) for me.

Be safe, but a great time.

Here is the latest on the "Caravan" from Campo, for the LUNCH on 3/19/2017.

We will meet/leaving the GOLDEN ACORN CASINO parking lot (South side), take the #61 exit from I-80 in SD County. Departure time will be at 9 AM "sharp".

We will meet with Scott's CARAVAN in El Centro at the (In @ Out Burger) parking lot located on South 4th St. Take exit #175. (Around 10 AM)

Then continue on to the final destination in Yuma. Arriving around 11 AM at the Lutes Casino.

Any questions, PM me for answers.
I hope to see a good group.

I emailed the folks here in AZ but so far no one has said they will be able to join us, bummer. Might just be me and Steve.

I will try to meet up either in Yuma or in El Centro if I dont spend night in Yuma after working track Saturday night. Need to go to Yuma anyway Sunday to meet with family. Would enjoy meeting Scott and Willie again but MIZER will have to stay home as she isnt behaving well lately so latest comfort queen will have to make trip (wifes RAV4 hybrid), specially since need to take wife.

Our group from the LA/IE area is to meet at 4555 Jurupa, Ontario
It's a Carl's Jr., near the intersection of the 10 & 15.
I will be there about 6:30 so I can have coffee and possibly a breakfast item. We should leave there at 7:00. We will head out the 10 toward Palm Springs, then south out near the Salton Sea and meet Willie and the San Diego guy's in El Centro, about 10:00 and then on to Yuma.

So far our group is:

Me
Devin55-Don
Andy
Dan
Michael
Doug- is a maybe.

From Escondido & San Diego:

Ron
Clint
Willie

Ron & Clint intend on meeting Willie at the Golden Acorn.

Also, I've been in touch with Tom, Littlecars from CO, and he will be in AZ and intends to meet us as well.

If anyone else can make it or meet us along the way, it would be great to have you join one of the caravans.

Checked with Steve, unfortunately he will not be able to make it. Sounds like I'll be heading to Yuma on my own. See you guys there!

Just got back from Yuma where I had lunch and a Yuma Prison tour with 9 fellow Insighters Had a very good time. A few new faces, and the rest were the old reliable ones.

The caravan from Campo was 3 Insights, and the caravan from LA was 5, so we had a 8 car caravan to Yuma.

Thanks Mark for putting this on, and Tom also thanks, coming from Co. Your Geo looks real good. There were a total of 10 INSIGHTERS.

Thanks guys for showing up, the weather was a "little" warm, 125F in the car when we left for the return trip.

I used the AC from Yuma to the "Mountain Springs Grade" so my mpg did suffer, but at least i could breath.
Maybe Andy will post pics taken.
Till the next one guys, again thanks.

I had an awesome time, the first for me doing the caravan thing. Since we see so few of our cars on the road, having 8 or 10 of use driving together was a blast. I only knew 2 of the others attending prior, so I made several new friends. Looking forward to doing it again!

Great time seeing everyone there, of course we had a record high day in Yuma at 98F... go figure? On the way there I went 200 miles at 80-85 MPH and got 53 MPG, this was half way with no AC and last half with AC on fan speed 1. On the way back another 200 miles which is a slight up hill grade back to Phoenix running again 80-85 MPH and AC on fan speed 2 got 46 MPG.

This was with no IMA, I bypassed the battery when I got the 1449 code back in Aug last year. I was by no means even attempting to hypermile but was instead peddle down and get there and back.

Had a great time. 530 miles, 62.9mpg. I was the lead car much of the time and used my cruise control for about half the trip set between 70-75 mph.

Even when my car IMA is working and I run a more reasonable 70-75 MPH my car only gets 56-58 MPG. Even when I've run with other Insights i'm always a few MPG less, I know this car was horrible abused by previous owners, probably have slightly less cylinder compression than other guys. But it is hard to argue with "paid for".
